How To Stop A Shaving Nick In Under A Minute! - Burke Avenue by Craig the Barber

Guys let's face it, shaving nicks are the worst! No one likes them and they take away tons of time when you're trying to head out the door, So here's a trick I use whenever i'm in this very bad situation.

Items needed: Cube of ice (1); alum block / or stick; styptic powder

  • Step 1: Apply the ice cube to the nicked area for at least 15 seconds. (This slows down the bleeding.)
  • Step 2: Apply a wet (run under cool water for a 1 sec.) alum block (or stick) to the affected area in a circular motion for at least 30 seconds. -- If 90% of the bleeding has not stopped continue for another 15-30 seconds.
  • Step 3: Once 90% of the bleeding has stopped, dry the area with a towel or wash rag. Then immediately apply a pinch of styptic powder to the affected area. Allow the nick to absorb the powder and dust off the remaining powder.

That's it. Fixing a shaving nick in under a minute!
